DAVID Fawcett

 

 David Fawcett is a classical composer and professional musician living and working in Swanage. He is an experienced choral director, having spent 26 years as Musical Director of The Festival Chorus in southwest London, and currently also directs The Orlando Singers, a Dorset-based chamber choir, and Chromata Voices of Purbeck, which he established in Swanage in 2016. An Associate of the Royal College of Organists, he is Director of Music at both St Peter's, Dorchester and St Mark's, Herston, leading teams of organists and training the choirs in both churches, and is accompanist to the Purbeck Arts Choir.

 

David writes sacred and secular choral music for a range of types of choir, from small church choirs of limited resources, through to experienced chamber choirs and large choral societies. Most of his existing output is sacred choral music, with secular works being added to the catalogue.

 

David has produced works specifically for several choirs. He has found success in competitions, including The Wessex Festival in 2016, The Cantus Ensemble Composition Competition in 2015 and the Small Choirs competition of 2013.

His works have been performed across the UK, including in St Paul’s Cathedral, London, Wells, Norwich, Ripon and Sheffield Cathedrals, St Philip’s Cathedral, Birmingham, St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham, and St Anne’s Cathedral, Leeds, and overseas, including in St Paul’s Cathedral, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and the Episcopal Church of St Francis, San Francisco, USA, St Paul’s Cathedral, London, Ontario, Canada, and in Norway and the Netherlands.
